About Maison St Roch

Maison St Roch is at the heart of our family.

We discovered and renovated this home while raising our two young daughters in France. There were no homes like it in Pezenas, and, as Australian’s, we wanted to ‘bring the outside, in’. As expats, it had to be more than a house, it had to be a tranquil sanctuary where we could put down roots and grow.

Now, fifteen years on, it is still our treasured sanctuary and we are always rejuvenated by time spent in Pezenas and it still delivers much family joy each visit. We have so much history here, as do our girls who are now visiting here with their friends.

Having lived abroad for more than 13 years, and now with daughters overseas or interstate, home is always Pezenas.

It is filled with art from our travels and is fully appointed as a family home for day to day living with all the utensils and amenities needed. There is a manager with a team to make sure your stay is as expected. Maison St Roch facilitates a unique and personal experience for visitors to Pezenas, helping create more magical lifetime memories.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay at ‘Maison St Roch’ in beautiful Pezenas. Please take care of it as you would your home. A heartfelt thank you from our family to yours. Your visit is appreciated.

Awarded 5-Star rating by Etoiles-de-France.

From the house, it’s only a very short walk to the heart of Pézenas’ enchanting old town, where winding cobbled streets, golden-stone buildings and a dynamic cultural scene create a truly immersive atmosphere. Once the capital of the Department, and a favourite haunt of Molière, the town comes alive in summer with outdoor performances, artisan showcases, colourful festivals, outdoor theatre and cinema. Enjoy a coffee or pastis under the plane trees on a café terrace or wander through the lively Saturday market, arguably one of the best in the Languedoc, where the air is filled with the scent of produce and the hum of local chatter.

The Mediterranean coastline

In just 20 to 30 minutes by car, you’ll reach the Mediterranean coastline of the Languedoc. Families will love the relaxed vibe of Marseillan Plage (23km) and Sérignan Plage (32km), while those seeking more action can head to Cap d’Agde (26km) for golf, watersports and the thrills of Aqualand. Dining by the sea is a highlight here – expect the freshest seafood and chilled rosé served beside the shore especially in Sete and Meze.

A Nature-lovers paradise

The surrounding region is a haven for nature enthusiasts. Follow the Mourgettes trail for a nearby stroll or venture further to the spectacular Gorges d’Héric (50km), set within the Languedoc National Park, an untouched expanse of river swimming spots, forested hikes and rugged beauty. For a more laid-back outing, Lake Salagou (30km) invites you to enjoy freshwater dips, summer watersports and peaceful picnic areas.

Local Vineyards

This is also a region steeped in wine and culinary tradition. Vineyards cover the hillsides, many offering welcoming tastings of bold Languedoc reds and crisp whites. Don’t miss the Noilly Prat cellars in Marseillan (17km), or the Paul Ricard distillery in nearby Bessan (13km), where the secrets of pastis are revealed. Seafood aficionados should head to the Étang de Thau to sample just-shucked oysters alongside a glass of Picpoul de Pinet.

Day Trips

When it comes to day trips, the options are rich and varied, from the flower-lined canals of Béziers (24km) and the fairy-tale turrets of Carcassonne (110km) to the Roman engineering marvel of the Pont du Gard (138km) and the wild, pink-hued landscapes of the Camargue. Wherever you venture, Maison St Roch offers the perfect base for discovering the best of the region.

We had a lovely time in your gorgeous house

Anne

We had a wonderful stay at the villa in Pezenas and thought it was beautifully furnished and it was a great pleasure to stay there. It was very special to have all our daughters with us and we were blessed with good weather

Family S.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Pézenas. The villa was superb, well maintained, modern with all up to date appliances. The Wi-Fi was a bit slow but this in no way affected our enjoyment of the holiday. The town was just as we imagined it to be, typically French with an attractive historic centre. Good restaurants, shops and bars all within easy walking distance

Andrew

We had a wonderful holiday in your lovely villa. Many thanks for making it available to us.
